TIN Registration Check _ Check TIN Number Online with NIC _ IRD Sri Lanka

Download

There is nothing to download here, and that is deliberate. The TIN registration check is not a file, a form or an app — it is a live lookup on the Inland Revenue Department's own e-services portal. The button on this page takes you straight to the official IRD verification screen, the same one described in our step-by-step guide.

Before you click

  • Have your NIC number ready.
  • Have the mobile phone or email the IRD has on file for you — your one-time password goes there.
  • Check the address in your browser when the page opens. It must be eservices.ird.gov.lk. If it says anything else, close it.

A warning about fake TIN check apps

Every government deadline brings out fake helpers. Apps and websites that offer to "check your TIN instantly" for a fee, or that ask you to upload photos of your NIC before showing anything, are after your money or your identity details. The real check is free, runs in your browser on the official portal, and asks for your NIC number and an OTP — never for NIC photos, and never for payment. No IRD officer will phone you and ask for your OTP either. If someone does, hang up and call the IRD call centre yourself on 1944.

What if the portal shows nothing?

An empty result means no TIN is registered against your NIC yet. The fix is free registration on the same portal, and our guide to what "TIN not displayed" means and what to do next walks you through it so you do not create a duplicate registration by accident.

Once the portal displays your TIN, print the result page. Under IRD notice SEC/PN/IT/2026/05, that printout — clearly showing your NIC number and TIN — is accepted in place of the formal TIN certificate for bank accounts, vehicle registration and the other transactions listed on our homepage.
